Film: Nintendo Quest

Sorry.

King of Kong ist fantastisch! Wenn dir solche Dokumentation gefallen, schau dir unbedingt Ecstasy of Order: The Tetris Masters an - in meine Augen die beste Videospiele Doku.

Hello patient backers,

I hope you’re all enjoying your new year and things are looking up. Seven years ago, hundreds of you passionate believers supported my Kickstarter endeavor - most of you on blind faith given the concept and trailer I was able to show off. It was a dream come true. What made the dream truly next level as that we hit a stretch goal that allowed us to create a RPG video game loosely based on the documentary entitled, “Gamer Quest.”

There have been no shortages of ups and downs for the past 7 years as the dev team struggled and put a lot of time and effort into getting the game I wanted, the game I promised you and a game that was possible to get made. I believe I chose an incredibly talented individual who had shown a lot of NES wizardry and had a lot of great people working with him too, so it was an easy decision to provide the necessary funds and resources. I still believe this person has incredible talent and determination, too. They achieved four way scrolling, over-world maps, turn-based battle systems and even recently a pokedex-like library to catalogue games despite some of this being seemingly impossible seven years ago. All those new crumbs that made it all feel possible and made me feel like “this is gonna be the year.” But at the rate of a new feature per year, let alone them working in tandem within a narrative, is unacceptable. This brings us to the last couple weeks where I have come to the conclusion that the game is not going to be completed within any acceptable or discernible timeline and that I cannot deliver upon the promise of our stretch goal.

I’ve been working with the dev team to receive reimbursement for the expenses to date and thankfully we’ve come to an amicable agreement. This was literally the only thing I could do to take action as I was quite sick of waiting around, hoping that something would come to fruition with a lot of money gone - I’m sure many of you echo that sentiment.

Where’s that leave things now? I’m willing to work with anyone who backed the campaign at the level of being included in the game or was set to receive the game; please contact me through Kickstarter in order to work out a fair reimbursement as there were additional costs above and beyond the game itself like shipping blu rays, cart shells, cassette tapes, stickers etc. I’m truly sorry it’s come to this and that it even took this long to get to this point when so many of you have pushed for this years ago. It’s embarrassing and I’m truly sorry for this disaster.

Thank you,

Rob
