Eigentlich mag ich Filme, wo man schon im Trailer hinweisen muss, dass es sich um eine Satire handelt, nicht besonders. Hitler Jugend mit Moonrise Kingdom Flair könnte aber interessant werden.
Waititi hat mit What we do in the Shadows schon bewiesen wie das geht.

Edward Norton directed, wrote, produced and stars in “Motherless Brooklyn.” The film’s journey to the screen began in 1999 when Norton saw the cinematic potential in Jonathan Lethem’s novel Motherless Brooklyn and its unforgettable central character. But from the beginning, Norton aimed to transpose Lethem’s contemporary characters into a different period and plot and give it a distinctive atmosphere by re-setting the drama in the 1950s—a time of great change in New York City.
The film’s stellar ensemble cast also includes Bruce Willis, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Bobby Cannavale, Cherry Jones, Michael Kenneth Williams, Leslie Mann, Ethan Suplee, Dallas Roberts, Josh Pais, Robert Ray Wisdom, Fisher Stevens, with Alec Baldwin and Willem Dafoe.

The film also features an original song written and performed by Thom Yorke.

Ab 21.11. im Kino„Doctor Sleep“ erzählt die Geschichte von Danny Torrance weiter, 40 Jahre nach seinem grauenhaften Aufenthalt im Overlook Hotel in „Shining“. Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson und Newcomerin Kyliegh Curran spielen die Hauptrollen in dem übernatürlichen Thriller; Regie führte Mike Flanagan nach seinem eigenen Drehbuch basierend auf Stephen Kings Roman.
Immer noch gezeichnet von den traumatischen Erlebnissen, die er als Kind im Overlook durchmachte, musste Dan Torrance darum ringen, so etwas wie Frieden in seinem Leben zu finden. Doch dieser Frieden wird erschüttert, als er Abra trifft, einen tapferen Teenager, der im Besitz einer mächtigen, übersinnlichen Kraft ist: des „Shining“. Ihren Instinkten folgend hat Abra erkannt, dass Dan diese Gabe ebenfalls besitzt. Sie bittet ihn um Hilfe, gegen die gnadenlose Rose the Hat und ihre Anhänger vom Wahren Knoten vorzugehen, die sich in ihrem Streben nach Unsterblichkeit vom Shining Unschuldiger ernähren.
Dan und Abra formen eine ungleiche Allianz und nehmen gemeinsam den erbarmungslosen Kampf auf Leben und Tod gegen Rose auf. Abras Unschuld und ihre unerschrockene Art, ihr Shining bereitwillig anzunehmen, zwingen Dan dazu, wie niemals zuvor auf seine eigenen Kräfte zu vertrauen – und sich zugleich seinen Ängsten zu stellen und die Geister der Vergangenheit wiederaufleben zu lassen.
Die Hauptrollen in „Doctor Sleep“ übernehmen Ewan McGregor („Star Wars: Episoden I, II & III“, „T2 Trainspotting“) als Dan Torrance, Rebecca Ferguson („Mission: Impossible“-Filmreihe, „Greatest Showman“) als Rose the Hat und Kyliegh Curran als Abra in ihrem Debüt in einem großen Kinofilm. In weiteren Rollen sind zu sehen Carl Lumbly, Zahn McClarnon, Emily Alyn Lind, Bruce Greenwood, Jocelin Donahue, Alex Essoe und Cliff Curtis.
Die Produktion verantworteten Trevor Macy und Jon Berg; als Executive Producers waren Roy Lee, D. Scott Lumpkin, Akiva Goldsman und Kevin McCormick beteiligt.

Habe gestern Abend die Berichterstattung vom Toronto Film Festival nachgelesen. Auf The Lighthouse, Knives Out (bei uns leider erst Anfangs Jänner) und A Hidden Life von Malick freue ich mich am meisten.
